PROJECT
Raul Gardini Thesis Award, 1st Edition 2024

On October 3, 2024, coinciding with the naming of the Complex at Viale Ciro Menotti in Marina di Ravenna, the Raul Gardini in memory of Thesis Award was consigned, amounting to 7,000 euros.

The award was jointly won by researchers Alessia Alcantarini and Sara El Yamani, both of whom are part of the startup 2G Carbons, operating within the Center for Environmental Research, Energy, and Sea in Marina di Ravenna, coordinated by Professor Andrea Contin.

Their winning project aims to valorize agro-industrial waste by transforming it into sustainable materials and fertilizers. Specifically, they focused on MGO Carbons, which can be used in wastewater treatment, and Struvite, a slow-release fertilizer. The project has a dual objective: to protect the environment while simultaneously creating economic and employment value in the region.
