On 20 June 2024, the 10th report on the Bioeconomy in Europe, drawn up by the Research Department of Intesa San Paolo in collaboration with Cluster Spring and Assobiotec – Federchimica with the participation of the Raul Gardini Foundation and the patronage of the Municipality of Ravenna, was presented in Ravenna, in the splendid setting of Palazzo Rasponi dalle Teste.
The Report is now in its 10th edition, confirming itself as a point of reference for operators and policy makers, providing a quantification of the complex set of sectors that use raw materials of renewable biological origin and food for thought on the developments of one of the pillars of the inevitable transition path towards more sustainable production and consumption models.
In 2023, all activities related to the Bioeconomy in Italy generated a production value of €437.5 billion, €9.3 billion more than in 2022, employing about two million people.
The Report contains the update to 2023 of the estimates on the value of production and employment of the Bioeconomy in Italy, France, Germany and Spain. It also contains an update of the analysis on Bioeconomy start-ups, an in-depth analysis of technological innovation and a focus on the water cycle of the agri-food chain. Finally, the Report includes a chapter dedicated to cosmetics, in collaboration with Cosmetica Italia (Federchimica), the Italian association of manufacturers.
EVENT PROGRAM:
After the opening, by Mario Bonaccorso, Director of the Cluster Spring and the institutional greetings of the Mayor of the Municipality of Ravenna Michele De Pascale and Alessandra Florio, Regional Director of Intesa Sanpaolo Emilia-Romagna and Marche, the speeches of Laura Campanini, Serena Fumagalli and Stefania Trenti, of the Research Department of Intesa Sanpaolo, dedicated to the presentation of the main contents of the Report, followed.
This was followed by a round table with the participation of representatives of Bioeconomy stakeholders: companies (Angelo Benedetti – President and General Manager of Unitec, Luca Lovatti – R&D Director of Melinda, Elena Sgaravatti – CEO of Plantarei Biotech), trade associations (Tania Tellini – Director of the Utilitalia Water Sector), the credit system (Massimiliano Cattozzi – Head of the Agribusiness Department of Intesa Sanpaolo) and policy makers (Morena Diazzi – DG Economy and Knowledge, work and business in the Emilia-Romagna Region).
