Annual thesis award in memory of Raul Gardini, Third Edition 2026

The Raul Gardini Foundation, the Municipality of Ravenna, the Flaminia Foundation, the University of Bologna – Campus of Ravenna, and Spring – Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster have signed a seven-year agreement that includes an annual competition for the “THESIS AWARD” in memory of Raul Gardini to be awarded to graduates of Master’s or Single Cycle courses, doctoral students, and research fellows at Italian and European universities who delve into interdisciplinary research and study on the themes of environmental sustainability and circular Bioeconomy.

The award is provided by the Raul Gardini Foundation.

Purpose

To co-finance:

  • A minimum six-month research stay abroad for a graduate holding a Master’s or Single Cycle Degree, who is formally engaged as a doctoral candidate or research fellow at Italian or European Universities, working on a project related to the abovementioned themes
  • To co-finance a start-up or spin-off operating in the above-mentioned thematic areas, founded by a graduate holding a Master’s or Single Cycle Degree from Italian or European Universities.

Recipients

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • For the proposal of an internship abroad: holding a Master’s degree or a Single Cycle Master’s degree from Italian or European Universities, and currently engaged as a doctoral candidate or research fellow at Italian or European universities, working on the above-mentioned themes.
  • For the proposal of a start-up or spin-off: holding a Master’s degree or a Single Cycle Master’s degree from Italian or European Universities, and being no older than 32 years of age as of the application deadline.

Deadline

Applications must be submitted by 12:00 PM on May 31, 2026.
The outcome of the evaluation process will be communicated via email by July 31, 2026.
